Do you feel you have the compassion and skills to help a family care for an aging or disabled relative…and get paid for it?
Becoming a Paid Caregiver – A Kapok Guide offers detailed insight into how you can be successful as a paid caregiver and the steps involved in breaking into this field.
This country is experiencing a major shortage of direct care workers to help seniors age at home, and this is only bound to get worse with the growth of the aging population. More people are tuning in to the idea of building a career in caregiving.
Many individuals and family members are juggling work, kids, and other demands. They lacks the resources and time to effectively care for their aging parents or other aging relatives. As a result, many people turn to paid caregivers for respite and ongoing support.
There are far too many job titles in this field, including home health aide, personal care aide and certified nursing assistant. This alone can make the field seem incredibly confusing and overwhelming. You may be wondering: What type of training is needed for each, if at all? Do states even require any licensing? Where do I search for work?
This confusion was a key reason for developing this guide.
You can download the PDF of the full guide here or read more about what it covers on our original announcement page. You can also use our contact form to get in touch if you have any questions about what the guide offers.
This is the second such guide that Kapok has produced, with the first being our Guide to Affordable Housing for Seniors. While the guides do involve a significant amount of work to produce, they are entirely free. However, we do ask that you send people back to this site to read it, rather than distributing the PDF document.
